In Montgomery County, MD, Bill 16-21 will require owners of county buildings and commercial and multifamily buildings >25,000SF to benchmark the energy usage intensity (EUI) of their buildings each year, as well as decrease their EUI and meet building energy performance standards (BEPS) every four years.

NYC has set emissions reductions targets for private buildings of 40% by 2030, and 80% by 2050 (compared to 2005 levels). As part of these efforts, Local Law 97 (LL97) sets greenhouse gas emissions limits for buildings larger than 25,000 SF, and covers almost 60,000 buildings.
